The Healing Cloak

This cloak was made for the Waterhouse Natural Science Prize at the South Australian Museum. It was shortlisted and travelled across to Adelaide. It's now on show at the Melbourne International Garden Show in the Natio Natural Beauty Section. Thank you Natio! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to show it in Melbourne.

The cloak contains common flowers and weeds which are ubiquitous. You will see camellia centres, hydrangeas, jasmine, gum blossoms, and even cow parsley. These have therapeutic qualities and are used in teas etc. The idea of the cloak was to 'elevate' the common into something special and to draw attention to the fact that we overlook things around us which can be useful and also beautiful.
